There is something very special
That means the world to me ~
To have a child upon my lap
And to have them fall asleep on my knee.

It is a position of very great trust
And how very safe they must feel.
The warmth, the strength the comfort
It is something very real.

I have nursed sick children
And sat through long night hours,
I have made them feel safe
And wiped their fevered brows.

I have rocked and nursed them
And sang them to their sleep,
And precious are the memories
Which are mine to keep.

There is nothing in this world
Which means as much to me
Than to share the special trust
Of a child asleep upon my knee.
