A SCOFFING SUN

The sky was heavy
And pewter grey,
Rain was promised
This winter day.

I needed it dry
To complete my task,
“Surely we need rain?”
I hear you ask.

The thunder roared
The lightening flashed,
My hopes for no rain
Were surely dashed.

A scoffing sun
A hint of blue ~
Still it rained
For what I must do.

Cold wet earth ~
Time to part,
With you goes
A piece of my heart.

Rose petals falling
Down from my hand ~
How could a scoffing sun
Understand?
