I was young when I fell in love
With the handsomest of men,
My memory stirs and I recall
How much I loved him then.
We married and life was sweet
And sunny were our days ~
We became a family
And were blessed with baby ways.

Babies soon grew to children
And life was busy and warm,
He was a soldier and he cared
That his family was kept from harm.
Life went on and the children grew
And it soon became quite clear,
That changes were coming to all of us
And we sensed a very great fear,

How could we live without you
And your special caring ways ?
How could the sun again shine for us
As we walked through troubled days.
I made a promise to care for them,
A promise that I would keep,
No matter how difficult the days,
No matter the water how deep.

They were his gift to me
And I love them with all my being,
Difficult times for all of them
Rough the path I am seeing.
The days now are different
And now they are grown,
They live their lives in study,
Or with children of their own.

They are angry itís true and I understand
For I am angry too.
We had it all when we were together ~
Now we are lost without you.
There is an empty place in their hearts
And a space that none can fill,
You were their Dad and my Husband;
And love you we always will.

How lovely it would be to see you play
With the grandchildren you would love.
But it wasnít meant to be that way ~
You watch them from heaven above.
Be a guardian angel to the children we bore
And hoped to raise together,
Please know that I have been there
Through rough and stormy weather.

I look at them when they are together
And your name comes into play,
I see their eyes as they mist over
I hear the things they donít say.
I sense in them the anger
The feeling of loss and despair,
I feel their pain as they turn around
And realise you are not there.

Life moves on and changes come
But time does not erase the pain,
I feel your very presence
In the sunshine and the rain.
I know they miss you being here
As I hear their laughter ring,
If you could be here with them
It would make their young hearts sing.

And so my Darling I send my thanks
For the children that we share,
Walk along side me and give me strength
To show them how much I care.
Help us remember the happy times
And the days when you were here.
Give us courage to face the days
When skies again are clear.

The Pages of Avalon

Written for someone very dear to my heart

She knows who it is for.

A gift of love.

Music on this page is Enya singing

Hope Has A Place

One look at love and you may see
It weaves a web over mystery,
All ravelled threads can rend apart
For hope has a place in the lovers heart.
Hope has a place in a lovers heart

Whispering world, a sigh of sighs,
The ebb and the flow of the ocean tides,
One breath, one word may end or may start
A hope in a place of the lovers heart,
Hope has a place in a lovers heart.

Look to love you may dream,
And if it should leave then give it wings.
But if such a love is meant to be;
Hope is home, and the heart is free.

Under the heavens we journey far,
On roads of life we're the wanderers,
So let love rise, so let love depart,
Let hope have a place in the lovers heart
Hope has a place in the lovers heart.

Look to love and you may dream,
And if it should leave then give it wings.
But if such a love is meant to be;
Hope is home, and the heart is free.
Hope is home, and the heart is free.
