Here we stand at the door of the year
And feel some apprehension.
There are troubles and problems
And things that are causing tension.

Our world is very troubled
Her people in much pain,
With earthquakes and mud-slides
And deluging flooding rain.

Bushfires ravage our land
Taking homes and kin,
We seem to be fighting a battle
That we somehow cannot win.

Our land cries out for water
To nurture crops and grain,
We often see before us
Such agony and pain.

Yet there stands before us
A year unstained and clear,
And what I wish for you
Is a year untouched by fear.

I wish you health and happiness,
A calm and restful sleep.
I wish you days of family
And memories to keep.

A baby with a toothy grin
And a child’s hand to hold,
The memory of summertime
To warm you when you’re cold.

I wish you satisfaction from work.
Some rest and friendship’s care.
I wish you many happy hours ~
A comfortable soft chair.

A book to read ~ some chocolate,
Nice meals and homemade bread.
Rain upon your window
As you snuggle down in bed.

Someone to hold you
And wipe away your tears,
To stand beside and encourage you
And take away your fears.

I wish you friendships special love,
The laughter that it brings,
The knowing that your secret’s safe
The joy when the telephone rings.

I wish you strength for partings
And hope to keep you strong,
I wish for you sweet music
And you can hear a special song.

I wish you food upon your table
And a welcome at your door,
I wish you a calm and sweet release
And health so sweet and pure.

Happy New Year to you ~ wishing you love and laughter.

With love from
